Our firm is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Division for CPA Firms, and the Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants. As a member of these organizations, we provide forty hours per year of in-house and outside training to our personnel to comply with the requirement for continuing professional education programs. We make extensive use of our state of the art computer systems and programs to ensure that we provide the most efficient and economical service possible.
Our organization consists of eighteen accounting professionals and paraprofessionals. We have seven Certified Public Accountants in our firm and others who have accounting degrees or are college educated. All of our CPAs are members of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Ed Briscoe (1932-2002) began his practice in public accounting in 1962 and was one of the founders of our current firm in 1977. Ed was audit partner of the firm from 1977 until his retirement in 1999. His Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting was from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Ed's experience included national firm background as well as oil and gas, utility, aviation, manufacturing, not-for-profit organizations, governmental auditing, accounting, tax and advisory services. Ed’s professional objectives and integrity established a solid foundation for the partnership of Briscoe, Burke and Grigsby LLP to continue.
PARTNER - Michael K. Burke, CPA
Michael
Burke, the tax partner of the firm, has been in the practice of public
accounting since 1985. He is a graduate of Oklahoma State University
in Stillwater, Oklahoma, with a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Accounting.
His experience includes national firms, as well as extensive experience
with oil and gas, manufacturing, and service industries. Michael Burke
is actively involved in the tax- planning areas relating to individuals,
corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies, as well as estate
planning for individuals.
PARTNER - Warren L. Grigsby, CPA
Warren
Grigsby, audit partner of the firm, graduated from the University of
Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma, and has a Bachelor of Accountancy and a
Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance. Warren's experience is
in public auditing of utility, manufacturing, aviation, not-for-profit,
and oil and gas organizations. Other experience includes management consultation
and service to SEC Companies.
TAX/AUDIT PARTNER - Sean B. Dunahay, CPA
Sean
Dunahay is a 1990 graduate of Oklahoma State University in Stillwater,
Oklahoma, and has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Sean has experience
in public and industry accounting. His background includes experience
with SEC companies in the oil and gas and mining industries, as well
as experience with not-for-profit organizations, utilities and taxation
services.
Terry K. Smith, CPA,CFP™
Terry Smith has been in public accounting since 1979. He is a graduate
of The University of Tulsa with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. His
experience includes national and small public accounting firms and crosses
a wide variety of industries. Terry has been a Certified Financial Planner
since 1995 and spends a good deal of his time actively involved in this
field as well as tax planning and consulting with individuals and business
entities.
